Dualwords, New hybrid Runewords seen @ BNet.

These have been around for a bit now, and I usually don't cover obscure items on this blog, but considering the nature of the items I think I'll make an exception for these. These things have been unveiled to the public for about 5 days now. Since then, they've been all the rage. In fact, one has even popped up on Lewt for sale. The first introduction to the new 1.09-esque public market: Grief of Doom. 100% Perfect stats, all realms, ladder and non-ladder. You too can own one for only $500 (free shipping!). So what the Hell is going on here? Recently it all started with the controversial godly rares/crafted of players like Killersdream that were thought by some to be imported. Then we noticed item shops selling rare Diadems of arguable legitimacy in early May. They weren't *that* special. Then the they introduced even more rares -- boots, gloves last month. People were starting to wonder if something fishy was going on. Maybe they were just using the lot of rollbacks still around. Well, I think they answered that question with this month's market-manipulating introduction, no? This is almost like 1.09 all over again!! Insanity. What could be in store for next month? Or will they drag out the new hybrid runewords one by one for a while? There have even been claims of bringing in elite runewords with insanely low level requirements.

There's some obvious things to note about the hybrids. If we "assume" that these are real, and the consistency in the pattern between all the hybrids is a requisite -- and not done on purpose just to throw us off the trail of possible importing -- well, then don't we have the exploit just about figured out? ITH items as they were defined back in .09 are no longer possible. If you manage to remove the socketed items from a runeword now, the server will delete the "ITH". But what if you make a legitimate runeword and then resocket it with runes to make a different valid runeword? Does the server still see it as an ITH? It would almost appear that the answer to that is no considering this new evidence given to you, huh? When we ITH a runeword, it retains its runeword stats. If we could insert the runes for another valid runeword before the server deletes it, what would happen? If you looked at these screenshots carefully, it would seem that the answer to that is that the special modifiers from the original runeword are preserved while the runic modifiers from the second are applied -- resulting in our new "Dualwords" as I've been calling them.

Or they're just imported. After all all the stats are perfect. Rolling two runewords in one item and getting 100% perf stats? How likely is that? Unless a shitload of time was put into re-rolling and getting successful dupes. Perhaps both importing and this new method exists? Isn't this stuff why this site exists? Shouldn't you lazy fucks be testing your asses off instead of considering actually dropping $500 on one? Or did 1.09 teach you nothing?

Also, in before Tri-brid Runewords.

edit: For people that still don't get these hybrid runewords, see this post.

  4. I've got to disagree. D2 has gotten stale and the fact that item stores are going to be selling new items will make it much more interesting. Especially the introduction of items such as LLD enigma. These things will make many more people interested in playing the game from a new angle, LLD. I support anything people can do to generate interest in the game.

  5. ive done some research...it appears to me the owner over these multiple sites has paid big $ to programmers to create a program/hack that transfers items from open battle net to closed battle net.

  11. I wish people would stop attempting to re-enforce the import myth. There is nothing special about what shop sites are doing.

It is simply mass botting and bug exploitation used by people who created programs to roll legit runewords with other legit runewords at a fast pace, probably involving server crashing. The runewords are perfect because they used a previously perfect LEGIT already rolled runeword... to make the hybrid. It's not that difficult a concept to comprehend.

The Runeword mods have nothing to do with the runeword name or even the runes, except that the server and game set it up that way from a specific set of variables only when the item has been socketed with the specified runes. A runeword has a specific flag, without those specific ordered rune requirements, the runeword flag turns to false, and the RuneMagic mods are automatically removed.

  14. i know how to create them hybrid runewords its as easy as editing a tbl file inside your mpq file all you have to do is make your runeword in single player and if its ladder just mod the runes.txt to use ladder items change a few things around in the tbl file for your current language and you have a hybrid runeword if you want a pruneword just use hero editor and bam a perfict hybrid runeword with a mod showing a phoneix for spirit or spirit for phoneix you can do losts a nifity tricks with the "-direct -txt" command lines
